"This analysis illustrates how paucity of rural statistics can be mitigated by using estimation approaches with current survey samples combined with other existing data holdings. This analysis applies small area estimation (SAE) methods to selected indicators of remote work generated by the quarterly Canadian Survey on Business Conditions. The geographic concept used to obtain granular estimates for rural areas is that of the self-contained labour area (SLA), which represents a rural labour market or rural functional area"--Executive summary, page 6.
