"The CHRC has taken action to promote and protect the human rights of individuals by investigating complaints, issuing public statements, tabling Special Reports in Parliament, conducting research, developing policy, consulting with stakeholders, and representing the public interest in the mediation and litigation of complaints. As the designated monitoring mechanism of the Government of Canada’s implementation of the rights and obligations enshrined in the CRPD, the CHRC is committed to ensuring continued progress in the protection of human rights. It is in the spirit of constructive engagement that the CHRC submits this report to the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (the Committee) in advance of its development of the list of issues prior to reporting"--Pages 1-2.
