Study of the near-axis signature of neodymium lasers / by A. Cantin.: DR52-9/8-1988E-PDF
"This report investigates the near-axis signature of typical pulsed Nd:YAG lasers. A review of the physical mechanisms responsible for this signature is presented and related to near-axis laser detection. The methodology used for measuring the radiation scattered from the port of laser sources (port scattering) is then described. Finally, measurements from three field trials held at CFB Valcartier, QC, on the near-axis signature of a variety of Nd:YAG lasers are discussed. From radiometric results, the port scattering contributes almost two orders of magnitude more than the atmospheric scattering to the near-axis signature of each laser investigated."--abstract (page i).
