"The Affordable Housing Innovation Fund (AHIF) is a $200 million fund that encourages new funding models and innovative building techniques in the affordable housing sector. The AHIF provides funding for innovative ideas and approaches that will support the evolution of the affordable housing sector. Starting in 2016-2017, the AHIF is expected to help create up to 4,000 new affordable units over five years to reduce the reliance on long-term government subsidies"--Program description, page 4.
