520 |a"Between 1961 and 1976, the Saint Lawrence Columbium (SLC) mine produced pyrochlore concentrate and ferroniobium alloy from a carbonatite-hosted deposit near Oka, Quebec. Tailings generated by ore processing contain critical minerals including niobium (Nb), rare earth elements (REEs), and phosphorus (P). This report is concerned with characteristics of the tailings that could determine their critical mineral resource potential. It describes their physical properties, their mineralogy, and their bulk geochemistry. Measurements were made on split-spoon core samples obtained at continuous downhole intervals from a 25 m borehole penetrating the full thickness of the tailings impoundment"--Summary, page ii.
