"This report presents the findings from the evaluation of Environment and Climate Change Canada's (ECCC) Indigenous Guardians (IG) Initiative. This evaluation covers a 5-year period from 2018-2019 to 2022-2023 under the following themes: relevance; results achieved; governance; design; efficiency; and use of performance information. The evaluation was conducted as required by the 2016 Treasury Board Policy on Results. The Indigenous Guardians Initiative provides Indigenous Peoples, through grants & contributions (G&C), with more opportunities for stewardship of their traditional lands, waters, and ice. Funding is provided to support Indigenous rights and responsibilities in protecting and conserving ecosystems, developing, and maintaining sustainable economies, and continuing the profound connections between natural landscapes and Indigenous cultures. …"--Introduction, page 1.
