A review of footwear for cold/wet scenarios, part I : the boot (U) / by W. Dyck.: DR52-18/63-1992E-PDF
"This review summarizes a portion of the overall subject of footwear. Although sometimes straying, an attempt has been made to focus on the outermost layer of protection for the foot; the boot. A comprehensive list of requirements is presented, and some materials, designs, and construction techniques are discussed which may fulfill some of these requirements. An attempt is made to draw the reader's attention to the compromises which must be made in describing the boot design criteria. There is a massive amount of literature on the subject and so a selective bibliography has been used to give a complete enough picture to assist in establishing the objectives of a footwear research and development project"--Abstract, page iii.
