"This document directly accompanies the synthesis report on risk-based standards developed for pesticide use in Canada (Mineau et al., 2008). For most key environmental sectors potentially affected by pesticide use, we were able to assemble a sufficient empirical database of terrestrial and aquatic field studies to translate laboratory-based toxicity (hazard) indices into an actual probability of impact. Where possible, our standards are compared with standard regulatory assessments as currently carried out by major regulatory agencies"--Introduction.
