Direct lithium extraction from raw and CO₂-mineralization treated oilfield brine using an electrochemically assisted lithium-ion sieve : a preliminary feasibility study / X. Zhang and C. Jiang.: M183-2/9216E-PDF
"Four (4) brine samples, each representing different derivatives of a flowback and produced water (FPW) sourced from the hydraulic fracturing operations of Montney tight gas reservoir in northeast British Columbia (BC), Canada were used for direct lithium extraction (DLE) using the electrochemically assisted lithium ion-sieve (eLIS) technology in this study. Among the four brine samples, one was the original raw brine without pre-treatment and the other 3 brine samples were treated differently using CO₂ mineralization and chemical precipitation. The content of lithium (Li) and impurity elements (e.g. Ca, Mg, etc.) in the treated brine samples were substantially different, with some Li loss reported from the treatments"--Abstract, page 1.
