"This rebuilding plan is developed to support increasing the population of Okanagan Chinook in Canada to a level where the objectives laid out in this report have been met. This population has primarily an ocean-type life history and is considered a Designatable Unit (DU) under the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC), a Conservation Unit (CU) under Canada’s Policy for Conservation of Wild Pacific Salmon and a Stock Management Unit (SMU) by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. The SMU includes summer Okanagan Chinook and focusses on the summer population, since these are the only fish for which we have information"--Introduction and context, page 1.
