Silver Chub (Macrhybopsis storeriana) was listed as a species of special concern under the Species at Risk Act (SARA) in 2003. In 2012, the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) separated the species into 2 designatable units (DU): the Great Lakes - Upper St. Lawrence populations, which was assessed as endangered, and the Saskatchewan - Nelson River populations, which was assessed as not at risk"--Executive summary, page iii.
