"Computer utilities are a new class of resource sharing systems by which a complex commodity called "computer power" is shared in a convenient and economical manner among many geographically distributed customers. These new systems differ fundamentally from the normal computer service bureau in that the services are supplied directly to the user without requiring the physical transportation of data between the customer and the central processors"--Page 5.
