"The Northern River Basins Study is a three-year study funded by several governments: federal, provincial and that of the Northwest Territories. The study area spans three major river systems: the Peace, the Slave and the Athabasca. The Northern River Basins Study is directed by a 25-member Board and consists of eight study components. The Board developed 16 questions, including the one which is addressed in this Project: “What native traditional knowledge exists to enhance the physical science studies in all areas of inquiry?” The Board did not initially comprehend how it would approach or answer this question. It later became evident that the scope of this question and the magnitude of work involved in developing the Traditional Knowledge Component may have been underestimated"--Executive summary.
