"A number of Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 100 microcomputers were used during the Canadian Atlantic Storms Project (CASP) to transmit hourly pseudo aviation weather reports from a number of climate stations to the Atlantic Weather Centre during intense observational periods. After the CASP field program ended, it was decided to investigate the feasiblity of using these microcomputers to upload climate data to a mini or micro at some central location. The limited field trial conducted yielded valuable experience for designing a remote data entry scheme for the climate network"--Introduction.
