"This report describes results of a diagnostic study of Northern Hemispheric data from the CMC operational analyses for January and July 1981. A review of the data acquisition and the basic diagnostic calculations is given and a comparison of the zonally averaged statistics with climatological values is undertaken. Finally, an example of a vertically integrated budget calculation is presented for sensible heat transport"--Abstract.
