"The Canadian Federal Government Program on the Long-Range Transport of Air Pollutants (LRTAP) officially began in May 1976 following the recommendations of the Department of Fisheries and the Environment Ad hoc Committee on LRTAP. The interdepartmental scientific program, involving mainly five departments (Environment, Fisheries and Oceans, Agriculture, Health and Welfare, and Energy, Mines and Resources) received Cabinet approval and resources in May 1980 and has been supported since on an on-going basis"--Preface.
