Plankton production in Barkley Sound in 1954 from approximations of the Standing Group of Zooplankton and the increase in the biomass of its predators / authorship, Alan S. Hourston.: Fs52-2/645E-PDF
"From data on the standing crop of zooplankton, the increase in biomass of its predators and the loss to the bottom, zooplankton production in Barkley Sound in 1954 was estimated at 6.5 x 10⁹ grams (dried weight) or 18.5 grams per square meter of water surface. Assumptions made in these calculations are discussed as they arise. This estimate is equivalent to phytoplankton production of 106 grams per square meter (dried weight) which compares well with Waldichuk's (1956) estimate based on chemical data"--Abstract.
