"An attempt was made to explore the Newfoundland coastal areas for scallop beds from St. John Bay on the west coast to Trepassey Bay on the south coast. Five hundred and fourteen sets, each of 15 minutes duration where possible, were made in the period June to October when the contract concluded and Trepassey Bay was reached"--Introduction, page [1].
