An aid to forecasting precipitation from the Hatteras Low / by R.V. Dexter.: En57-56/18-1947E-PDF
"Consideration of the synoptic charts for the year 1946 shows a relation between the position of the centre of a depression near Iceland at the time of first appearance of a Hatteras Low and the subsequent behavior of the latter. It is possible to define an area near Greenland, such that the presence of the centre of a depression within it indicates that the Hatteras Low will subsequently cause precipitation in Nova Scotia. The overall accuracy of this method of forecasting precipitation or no precipitation is 80% for the year 1946"--Summary, page [1].
