"There has been increasing recognition over the last year or two of the importance of briefings in the provision of meteorological services to aviation. It has long been evident that poor briefing can nullify the value of good forecasting. It does not follow of course that good briefing can replace good forecasting. In fact satisfactory briefing requires good forecasting as a prerequisite. But good briefing does promote the best use of the information available from the forecast and from basic data, and promotes intelligent allowance for the limitations of meteorological science"--Page [1].
