520 |a"Hourly aviation weather reports for Malton airport for the winter months (December, January, February, March) of the 12 years from 1941 to 1952 were used. These reports were investigated to find a period of snowfall of 6 hours or less with approximately the same visibility leading up to or directly following the synoptic observations. The hourly reports gave the observed visibility and length of snowfall; the synoptic reports yielded the accumulation of snow.
