"To achieve a coordinated approach to the evaluation of the Gainsborough and Coulter projects, a committee with representatives from the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA.), Manitoba Water Control and Conservation Branch, Manitoba Department of Agriculture, and the Economics Branch, Canada Department of Agriculture, developed investigation guidelines, and operated to obtain necessary engineering, soils and recreation studies and information. Appendix A, Parts 1 and 2, were prepared by the Pedology Unit, Canada Agriculture Research Branch, Winnipeg. Appendix B, Melita Area, Water Supply and Water Demand, was prepared by the Manitoba Water Control & Conservation Branch. Appendix D, on recreation, was prepared under the direction of Dr. A.N. Fedoruk, Canada Land Inventory Project, for Manitoba, Winnipeg. The Economics Branch, Canada Department of Agriculture, prepared Appendix C, the irrigation appraisal and the summary and conclusions, and assembled this report"--Forward.
