"The Atlantic Sugar Refineries and later, the Saint John Harbour Commission were concerned with possible damage to underwater structures, under construction, or recently completed, in Saint John Harbour by marine borers. In connection with their investigations of the matter, the Atlantic Sugar Refineries arranged for regular sampling of harbour waters. In 1930, the Biological Board had investigated the outstanding hydrographic features of these waters"--Introduction, page [1].
