Moored current and hydrographic measurements in Flemish Pass, 2002 to 2005 / by John W. Loder, Yuri Geshelin and Igor Yashayaev.: Fs97-18/396E-PDF
"Moored current and hydrographic measurements at two sites in Flemish Pass between June 2002 and May 2005 are described. The sites were located on the Flemish Cap Line (FCL) of the DFO Atlantic Zone Monitoring Program (AZMP), and in the core of the shelf-edge Labrador Current. Four deployments of moorings with current, temperature and salinity recorders distributed through most of the water column were made, with surface guard buoys used for protection from marine vessel traffic. All of the current-meter moorings were successfully recovered, including 5 upper-ocean acoustic current profilers, 34 single-point current meters, 13 temperature-salinity recorders, and 7 of 9 deployed temperature recorders. Displays and statistics of the datasets are presented, along with FCL hydrographic section plots and sea surface temperature composites from the AZMP. Major features of the oceanographic variability are discussed including seasonality"--Abstract, page ix.
