Preface on the oceanography of the Strait of Belle Isle / by A.G. Huntsman.: Fs53-21/1950E-PDF
"There is a great variety of evidence to show that, with the main currents through the Strait of an oscillatory character produced by tides, winds and barometric pressure, there is on the whole a preponderance of inward movement from the Labrador current and a steady differential between the two sides of the Strait, which results in overall movement of water inward along the north shore and outward along the south shore"--Summary, pages 13-14.
