Hydrology, fisheries resource, and watershed development of Marble River, Vancouver Island, B.C. / by Roy E. Hamilton.Fs97-4/1558E-PDF

"The hydrology of the Marble River watershed is examined and water use is reviewed. Storage alternatives (Victoria, Alice, and Benson Lakes) for regulation of instream flows are compared. Data is provided on distribution, timing, escapement and economic value of the several Pacific salmon species. An historical review of upstream fish passage problems at Twin Falls, Bear Falls, and Lake Outlet Falls is given, and remedial work done to date on these falls is described. Recommendations are made to do additional work on the falls to improve upstream fish migration, arrange for fisheries flow releases from the existing dam on Benson Lake, and develop storage on Victoria Lake"--Abstract, page iii.
