MIMD algorithms for naval resource planning : overview and preliminary assessment / by B.A. Chalmers and P. da Ponte.D68-23/5-1995E-PDF

"A project has been initiated at DREV to design advanced automated resource management systems for naval warfare. Current efforts are focused on the design of a weapon engagement manager for the Above-Water Warfare. The role of this manager is to assist a warfare officer in planning the allocation and engagement scheduling of weapon systems for a convoy of ships under attack by anti-ship missiles so as to maximize overall asset survival, while ensuring the conservation of non-renewable defence resources. This document situates the project, reviews our progress in the design of the manager, describes some of our sequential algorithms and multiple-instruction multiple-data parallel algorithms for the planning function in the manager, and gives a preliminary assessment of their computational performance"--Abstract, page i.
