5203 |a"During 1980, 7,482 dogfish were tagged in the Strait of Georgia and 1,062 in Queen Charlotte Sound, Hecate Strait and Dixon Entrance. A total of 15,013 dogfish have been tagged and released in Canadian waters from May 1978 to July 1980. As of December 31, 1980, 203 tagged fish have been recovered from all releases. Of these, 141 fish were recovered in 1980. Preliminary examination of dogfish movements indicated that 75-80% of tagged dogfish undertook complex movements within the Strait of Georgia and that a small percentage (15%) moved between the Strait of Georgia and the Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound. Between 3 and 8% migrated north of the Strait of Georgia. Two fish (1.6%) were recovered off the west coast of Vancouver Island"--Abstract, page iii.
