"The purpose of this review was to identify incidence of, or the potential for off-flavour tainting of fish and water by components discharged into the Peace, Athabasca, and Slave rivers. The main focus was the tainting effects of effluents released by pulp mills, but there is also a brief discussion of the role of other industrial discharges, municipal waste discharges, and non-point sources of run-off. There is a relatively weak literature base directly related to taste and odour problems attributable to pulp mills in the Northern Alberta river basins. However, discussions of other pulp mill related incidents of taste and odour problems throughout the world have been included"--Report summary.
