"It is well know that soil organic matter, whether measured in terms of Carbon or Nitrogen, increases with increasing rates of crop residues returned to the land. This being so, one would expect to find that continued harvesting of straw will eventually lead to a decrease in soil organic matter. But does it? The answer to this question seems to vary depending on the studies that have been conducted on this subject"--Page 1.
