EBMS : a computer program for equivalent beam modelling of ship structures / Thomas S.Z. Hu - David C. Heath ; approved by H.M. Merklinger.: D68-21/36-1995E-PDF
"Equivalent beam modelling is used in preliminary ship design for longitudinal elastic stress and ultimate bending strength evaluation. Two equivalent beam modelling programs, CSC and ULTMAT, have been written for use on a PC for elastic stress evaluation and cross sectional ultimate strength analysis, respectively. They have been integrated by a graphical user interface into one program called EBMS (Equivalent Beam Modelling of Ship Structures). The first program, CSC, is capable of calculating sectional constants and elastic stresses including warping and torsion characteristics while the second program, ULTMAT, is able to provide the ultimate hogging and sagging bending moments. This report describes the overall structure of these programs and the assumptions used in their formulation. The input data format and usage are also described. Some recommendations pertaining to further development are made"--Abstract, page ii.
