Coupled finite element analysis of a sea chest vibration / L.E. Gilroy - T. MacFarlane ; approved by W.C.E. Nethercote.D68-22/6-1992E-PDF

"Computer codes have been developed at the Defence Research Establishment Atlantic for the prediction of the natural frequencies of submerged or fluid-filled structures. In this report, these codes are used to determine the resonant frequencies of a scale plastic model of a ship's sea chest experiencing vibration problems. Experimental data for this model are available in the literature. The numerical results are compared to the experimental data for both an empty sea chest and one filled with water. The computer codes VAST and COUPLE were able to predict the natural frequencies and mode shapes determined experimentally with reasonable accuracy"--Abstract, page ii.
