Cultus Lake salmon investigations 1926 / author R.E. Foerster.: Fs52-3/3E-PDF
"The investigations at Cultus Lake upon the Sockeye salmon had in the beginning, 1923, as their object the obtaining of accurate data with regard to those phases of the life-history of the Sockeye salmon which were passed in fresh water. These involved not only the spawning period but also the periods of development of egg, hatch, development of fry and first year's residence of the lake. They included also all factors concerning the growth and development of the young fish, such as food and physical and chemical conditions of the water and all factors contributing to mortality such as enemies, parasites and diseases. More recently, however, the scope of the work has been greatly enlarged to embrace the effect of hatchery operation in its various methods upon the propagation of sockeye as compared with natural propagation"--Page [1].
