"The work on the bacterial spoilage of haddock was continued during the summer of 1927 with two main objects. Part of the work was confirmatory from the standpoints of (1) the sterility or non-sterility of the muscle of living haddock (2) the presence of aerobic spore-formers in slime and muscle, and the frequency of the organism identified as Bacillus mesentericus-vulgatus and (3) whether or not dissociation occurs in freshly isolated, single-cell cultures"--Page [1].
