Recreational mail surveys, 1983 - tidal sportfishing diary program and visitors sportfishing survey / by L. Bijsterveld, M. James and B. Moore.: Fs97-4/1801E-PDF
"Mail surveys collected 1983 catch and effort data on recreational fishing in B.C. tidal waters. During 2,018,000 angler days, adult anglers caught and kept 1,067,000 salmon including 353,000 chinook and 555,000 coho. The salmon catch in 1983 was higher than 1982, due to an increase in the chinook catch. Most effort was from boats and directed towards salmon in general. Catch per unit effort estimates are compared to other years. Juvenile anglers caught and kept an additional 63,000 chinook and 102,000 coho during 350,000 angler days. Problems and improvements related to mail surveys are reviewed"--Abstract, page iii.
