Fish and fish habitat impact study of seven British Columbia coastal marinas, 1984 / P.E. Holmes, M.L. Tarves, R. Tomio and W. Jansen.Fs97-4/1809E-PDF

"Seven coastal marinas in the Strait of Georgia were studied to determine the impact of marinas on fish and fish habitat. During the fall of 1984, the following parameters were measured at each marina: water quality (02 level), trace metal and PCB concentrations, fecal coliform concentrations, benthos and meiobenthos distribution, zooplankton distribution, vegetation percent coverage, large marine invertebrate populations, fish populations and fish gut contents. Results were analyzed to determine whether the marinas studied enhanced or were detrimental to fish production and whether accompanying facilities such as full floats detracted from the marinas' capability to provide food and shelter for fish"--Abstract.
