"In 1983, the Groundfish program of the Pacific Biological Station undertook a joint biological and hydroacoustic survey to examine the biology, distribution and abundance of Pacific hake (Merluccius productus) and walleye pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) off the southwest coast to Vancouver Island and the northwest coast of the State of Washington. The purpose of the survey was twofold: to assess "resident" stocks in coastal inlets off Vancouver Island; and to examine the "migratory" offshore stock of hake.
