Soft-shell clam (Mya arenaria) resource inventory - Buckmans Creek, Charlotte County, New Brunswick - 1984 / R.B. Angus and P. Woo.Fs97-4/1842E-PDF

"In 1984 a soft-shell clam (Mya arenaria) resource inventory in Buckmans Creek, Charlotte County, New Brunswick revealed a standing stock of 2,036 bu (55,576 kg) of market-sized (238 mm shell length) clams and 50 bu (1,358 kg) of pre-recruits (32 to 37 mm shell length). Growth rate analysis showed that this population is slow growing compared to other Maritime populations. Inspection of size frequency distributions indicate a recruitment failure approximately 4-5 yr prior to the survey. A recommendation is made to harvest and depurate the market-sized clams"--Abstract, page iv.
