"The writer was asked to make determinations of ammonia and of nitrate nitrogen (including nitrites) in the sea water about St. Andrews. The object of the work was to provide data which would have a bearing upon other research being carried on at the Station at the time; also to furnish a fairly easy method for the determination of nitrogen in the above mentioned forms, in such minute amounts as are found in sea water"--page [1].
