"The physical conditions existing in the various water areas on the Atlantic seaboard are indicated in part by the surface temperatures of the coastal waters. As an important part of various hydrographic investigations that are carried out, a number of coastal stations have been established for the purpose of obtaining records of the surface water temperatures along the Canadian Atlantic coast"--Page [5].
