Toxins : the emerging threat / by Murray G. Hamilton.DR52-2/19-1996E-PDF

"Toxins, which are non-replicating chemical agents of biological origin, are relatively anonymous chemical warfare agents even though some are among the most exquisitely lethal subtances known. This report categorizes toxins, also know as mid spectrum agents, especially with respect to similarities and differences to classical chemical and biological agents. Areas of potential legitimate and non-legitimate use are discussed and examples of some recently identified toxins are provided. Defensive research initiatives and the impact of emerging technologies in biology, chemistry and computer science are explored. Finally, recommendations for the efficient use of limited Canada defence research and development resources are presented" -- Abstract, page iii.
