"On 11 June 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the first global influenza (flu) pandemic since 1968. A pandemic is an outbreak of a specific illness in multiple areas covering a vast geographic area. While the world experienced a pandemic that began in 2020 due to a coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), this paper focusses on pandemic influenza.
