"This independent assurance report was prepared by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada on establishing terrestrial protected and conserved areas. Our responsibility was to provide objective information, advice, and assurance to assist Parliament in its scrutiny of the government's management of resources and programs and to conclude on whether the establishment of terrestrial protected and conserved areas complied in all significant respects with the applicable criteria. … The objective of this audit was to determine whether Environment and Climate Change Canada and Parks Canada were on track to establish protected and conserved areas covering 25% of terrestrial land and inland water by 2025, planning for 30% by 2030, that are well-connected, ecologically representative, and of significance to biodiversity and ecosystem functions. …"--About the Audit, page 20.
