520 |a"This research was undertaken to provide a radiation hazard assessment for satellites in highly elliptical orbit (HEO). This study aimed to support the Polar Communications and Weather mission (PCW) planned to launch by the Canadian Space Agency to provide continuous communication and meteorological observations in northern areas of Canada. This research gives qualitative and quantitative description of the radiation environment on HEO orbits and its variability depending on the satellite location and space weather activity. The data sets selected for the study are from the HEO1 and HEO3 missions, flown by the Aerospace Corporation in cooperation with the American Air Force"--Preface, page 5.
