"A brief presentation of the various basic equations specifying physical processes in the atmosphere suggests practical limitations in elucidating these processes in various time scales and regions of the atmosphere. The conservatism of various tracers and their measurement is discussed. The tracers considered most appropriate to various spatio temporal scales of atmospheric system are collated and presented, and finally discussed in relation to mass transfer models within the stratosphere and through the tropopause"--Abstract.
