"The surface lows for which 24-hour forecasts of displacement and central pressure were prepared at the Atlantic Weather Central by use of the Jarvis and Ostby-Veigas techniques for the winter of 1965-66 are classified according to the type of 500 mb flow in which they are embedded, and an analysis of the forecast errors in each of these situations is carried out. Conclusions are drawn from the results of these forecasts concerning the relative value of these forecast techniques in the several situations described"--Abstract.
