"Surficial sediment texture has been mapped in the Upper Bay of Chaleur using MS26B echosounder data collected by the Canadian Hydrographic Service in 1964. Four types of bottom sediment, I, II, IIa and III, interpreted as sandy silt, mud, sandy mud and sand, are distinguished on the basis of reflector characteristics. Sediment is generally distributed with the coarsest material in the shallow water and the finer material deposited in deeper areas"--Summary, page 1.
