Experimental troll fishing for Atlantic salmon in Miramichi Bay, New Brunswick / by K.J. Fram.: Fs97-4/2198E-PDF
"In 1971, 1972, 1990 and 1991, experimental fisheries were commissioned by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) to explore the potential for troll-style fishing for Atlantic salmon in the Miramichi estuary in New Brunswick. The objective of these experiments was to assess the possibility that this type of angling might provide considerably increased angling opportunities to rationalize public investment in enhancement of small salmon rivers with major estuaries. Results of the experiments were generally successful for mackerel and less so for salmon, with catch limited to the 1972 season. This report examines these experiments, summarizing the approach, conditions and results to the extent permitted by available documentation. Included is a summary of anecdotal information from participants"--Abstract, page iv.
