"The Pacific Oceanographic Group commenced bathythermograph observations in July 1952. Observations made in 1956 have been previously reported in a data record published in June 1957. This volume will present the oceanographic and bathythermograph data observed in 1957. It is planned to publish volumes of pre-1956 bathythermograms as time permits, and to continue a regular semi-annual datarecord series as the program continues"--Introduction, page [1].
