"The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans (the committee) undertook a study on ocean carbon sequestration and its use in Canada. The committee learned a great deal about land-based installations that sequester carbon by adding alkaline materials (such as limestone) to rivers and harbours - a process called alkalinity enhancement"--Executive summary, page 7.
